The challenge has been laid down. New girl band Liir tell Jedward to “bring it on” for the right to represent Ireland at Eurovision 2015.

We reported that the newly formed girl band Liir are aiming for Eurovision 2015 and they are certainly showing some serious ‘Girl Power’ by challenging the might of Eurovision veterans Jedward.

Michelle McGrath – formerly of band Industry – said of the prospect of facing Jedward at Eurosong

“Bring it on! May the best person win at the end of the day”

The singer went on to say

“I don’t ever concentrate on everybody else. I can only control myself and my own act. I can only work hard at what I’m doing so I don’t really worry about anybody else. “I think that competition is always healthy. It makes you work harder, it makes you graft more – so I don’t mind,

Michelle is joined by Leanne Moore (3 time Irish Eurovision Backing Singer and You’re a Star Winner) and Kim Hayden (The Voice of Ireland contestant).

“I’ve always wanted to do Eurovision anyway. My last band Industry actually got together with the hope of going to the Eurovision originally but then the plan changed.”

Will Jedward take this challenge lying down? Well they are currently riding high in the iTunes video charts across Eurovision and Canada with their new song ‘Ferocious’.

However the Irish Eurovision 2015 selection is going to be tough this year with many others looking for the coveted role of representing Ireland at the 60th running of the contest. From Mary Byrne, Nikki Kavanagh, Andrew Mann, X-Factor contestants and songwriters whom have written for P!nk and Justin Timberlake this is going to be potentially a close run competition.
