It was the big talking point of the 2026 contest – you know, other than Bulgaria’s first ever win! After nearly two decades of will it, won’t it, Eurovision Song Contest Asia will be taking to our screens, live from Bangkok, Thailand this November – and we here at Eurovision Ireland can’t wait!!
As of early June, we currently have 10 nations from the Asia-Pacific region set to take part – namely Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Nepal, Philippines, South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam. There are rumours more broadcasters are planning to join, which got us thinking… who might yet join the guestlist for the inaugural edition of Eurovision Song Contest Asia? And who do you want to join the party!
Sources at the EBU have said both public service and privately-funded broadcasters in the Asian-Pacific region are eligible to take part at Eurovision Asia, while countries/broadcasters already taking part at Eurovision are exempt. It’s also been suggested that only fully recognised countries, not territories or regions will be able to take – even with these caveats, as you can see from the list below that’s still a lot of potential competitors. After all, Asia is 4.4 times bigger than Europe!!
Who do you want to see join the line up? Let us know by casting your vote below!
