Karl William Lund – Miracle
The BBC has gone though a lengthy selection process to find their final 6 contestants that will fly the Union Jack in Stockholm at Eurovision.
We have our International Poll that is still open for you to vote in – SEE HERE
However the team at Eurovision Ireland thought it only fair that we give our neighbours a review of all their songs in the Final. 4 of the team have gotten together and reviewed the songs and awarded points 12/10/8/6/4/2.
To say that we differed was an understatement but that is reflected in the public poll as the leader keeps changing.
Karl William Lund – Miracle
Jennifer: A soulful voice, an uplifting chorus, beautifully-crafted backing vocals and a pulsing melodic tune. This could be the one that makes it all the way to Stockholm and gets my vote as the one to represent the UK at Eurovision 2016. Will the voting public agree? Tune in on Saturday and find out. 12 Points
Elaine: This was my least favourite of the 6 songs I am sorry to say. This could be partly because I immediately thought of the hideousness that was Paula and OVI in 2014. I felt a bit underwhelmed by it if truth be told. 2 Points
John: My first thought with this is that it’s a song from a musical. These types of song have varying success in Eurovision. But once I get past that, it also isn’t that bad. I think it could have a very strong Scandinavian influence, but as that part of Europe can do no wrong at the moment, that would help its chances if it were to win on Friday. However, the flip side of this Scandinavian sound is that it might be just too formulaic. I’d put this in the top three on Friday. 8 Points
Garrett: Well with a name like Lund I am expecting something that would not be out of place in Melodifestivalen and I am right. Being a Melfest Junkie this then appeals to my inner Swede (Call me Robin Bengtsson – I love you). All joking aside this is a cracking gem of a song. I was listening to it and I could see it clearly on the stage in Stockholm. This song has gravitas, this song has umph and this song touched me in places that I cannot go into here on a review! It is contemporary and very radio friendly and let’s face it Karl is easy on the eye too. It’s a big emotional song and he will have to dig deep to bring that over on the live performance without making it look stage school. I toyed over this one for ages and if I could give 2 sets of 12 points then I would but I can’t. So feeling like Meryl Streep in ‘Sophie’s Choice’ I award Karl 10 Points
Grand Total for Karl William Lund : 32 Points out of a possible 48
