BNT, the Bulgarian national broadcaster, have explained why Burgas was chosen as the Host City of the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest.

BNT Director General Milena Milotinova, in a recent interview with Bulgarian media, explained why Burgas was selected as the strongest overall proposal. Milena Milotinova had the following to say:

“Burgas presented the strongest overall application. This includes the venue for the event itself, the arena of Burgas, a very strong commitment from the municipality, transport connectivity, good infrastructure, a good base for hotel accommodation. And also a vision of how to make the overall experience so that it involves the whole city, not just the city of Burgas and the region, and becomes a memorable event.

In the overall process of organisation, we go step by step with the EBU, hand in hand with the EBU. Theirs are the criteria for choosing a host city, theirs are the guides and guidelines. We are in constant contact with online meetings, online sessions with them and their experts. We are doing everything together in close coordination, because the event is of a huge international scale.

Burgas is starting work today (13 August). We had a working meeting yesterday with the mayor of Burgas and the part of his team that was with him here in Sofia for the signing of the contract. They begin levelling the terrain around the Arena Burgas Hall so that they can prepare them for the accompanying infrastructure and buildings that will be built around the hall.

There is a lot of work to be done. BNT has a motivated team, the Municipality of Burgas also has a motivated team. This team has been given to us by name, it has been determined at the stage of competition documentation, so we are getting to work and will inform the public about the steps from now on.”
