As we all know, Bulgaria took their first ever victory at the Eurovision Song Contest, this year held in Vienna , Austria with Dara and her song “Bangaranga”. With attention now turned to the prospect of Bulgaria hosting the contest in 2027, we at Eurovision Ireland, decided to create a series to have a look back at Bulgaria’s history at Eurovision and also Junior Eurovision. There’s no doubt that they have brought us some interesting acts over the years they have been in the contest. Today we look at 2009.

Bulgaria 2009-Krassimir Avramov “Illusion”

Krassimir Avramov won the 2009 edition of Bulgaria’s National Final “Bŭlgarskata pesen v „Evroviziya ” with a song he penned himself . At the ESC in Moscow, Russia , he was drawn to perform in Semi Final 1 but unfortunately, did not qualify for the Grand Final, finishing in 16th place in the Semi Final with just 7 points.

Junior Eurovision 2009

Bulgaria did not participate in Junior Eurovision 2009, which took place in Kyiv, Ukraine .
