The cold days are with us again, the nights are drawing in…which means the return of the popular BBC Competition Strictly Come Dancing .What has Strictly Come Dancing got to do with the Eurovision Song Contest, you may ask? Well, during each series we often see a connection between the two contests, be it a well-known Eurovision song or a song or piece of music from a former Eurovision act.
Last week, we had a double dose of Eurovision in the show where we saw both Volare , sung by Domenico Modugno for Italy in 1958 and Boom Bang – Bang, sung for the UK by Lulu in 1969 .
Kym Marsh and Graziano Di Prima danced a Samba to Volare
Ellie Taylor and Johannes Radebe , danced a Viennese Waltz to Boom Bang a bang .
Last night , the StrictlyCome Dancing show celebrated 100 years of the BBC , with the celebrities and their professional partners dancing to theme tunes from well known BBC programmes over the years. Eurovision was honoured when Fleur East and her professional partner Vito Coppolla danced a jive to Waterloo, which ofcourse Abba won the contest with in Brighton in 1974.Their act was introduced by Graham Norton , BBC Eurovision commentator .
