Many people – including BNT (Bulgarian National Broadcaster) desperately wanted them to take to the stage at Eurovision 2014. Their participation made the main media in Bulgaria and their fans tried to get their country to Copenhagen.
So what will be happening in 2015? Is there a hope that the country can make the 60th anniversary of the contest? Well we have been in contact with BNT and spoke to their delegation to ask what is the broadcaster’s situation for next year’s contest?
We have been advised that BNT are currently
“looking into a partnership with a private production company in order to compile a budget for a Eurovision entry. Nothing is finalised, so at this stage we cannot confirm participation.”
However it is encouraging to see that a partnership between other production companies is being explored. Greece have successfully done this with their National Broadcaster and MAD TV.
2015 would be the 10th anniversary of Bulgaria’s first appearance at Eurovision. Their best result at the contest was in 2007 when Elitsa & Stoyan placed 5th with the song ‘Water’.
