In an interview with Spanish media agency “elcorteingles.es”, Ruth Lorenzo confirmed that she has been approached by the BBC to represent the United Kingdom at Eurovision 2014.
The Spanish singer that rose to popularity during her time on the UK X-Factor show in 2008 spoke to elcorteingles.es yesterday saying that
“It is true that I have received a formal proposal from the BBC this year to represent the UK”
Furthermore she continued in the interview to say that she had been asked several years before to take part in the Irish National Selection for Eurovision. However her interview yesterday was a clear sign that she does want to go to Eurovision but wants to represent her home country of Spain. She recognised that she is known more in the UK than in Spain but said
“I am clear that if I go to the Eurovision Song Contest, this year or not, it will be with the Spanish flag I know and love…I hope I made the right decision.”
This interview is a clear message to TVE in Spain that she wants to be their representative at Eurovision.
