Conchita Wurst – who is representing Austria at Eurovision 2014 – has spoken out about “discrimination” via Facebook today. Here is the German and English translations Conchita’s post.

German Post

I love you all

English Translation

To all dear people out there, who do not have much appreciation for my persona and so due to that feel they have to join certain Facebook groups.

Honestly this is something I can easily live with. Tastes do naturally vary.

But my dears aren’t there much more important things one could spend such expensive energies? Meaning fighting FOR people who are being discriminated against on a daily basis and not against them.

How would you feel if your friends, relatives, children, colleagues etc would be insulted like that? I am certain that in your immediate environment are some people who are ‘different’. Because of that I further on will fight for tolerance. As I am convinced that I’m the 21st century really everybody has the right to live as he chooses, as long as nobody else is being limited in their freedom or injured.

As far as I know I have not harmed anybody.

XOXO Conchy oh und… I love you all

This sentiment is very topical across Europe and the World at present. If people were expecting Conchita to be a comedy act at Eurovision, then you will be sadly disappointed. We expect a poignant song from Austria at Eurovision 2014 and one that we will be following closely. Bravo Conchita
