LRT, the Lithuanian national broadcaster, have confirmed their continued non-participation at the 2026 Junior Eurovision Song Contest, in Ta’ Qali.
LRT participated a total of four times at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, between 2007 and 2011 – only missing 2009. LRT returned to broadcasting the Contest in 2023 and 2024, in a hope for a return last year – however due to ratings this never materialised. Jolanta Misienė, Contact Centre Specialist with LRT, had the following to say to Eurovoix:
“The Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Lithuania is currently not attracting sufficient viewer interest and the project itself requires extremely significant financial and organisational resources. Therefore, we are not planning to participate in it yet.”
