Vocal Line, the Danish choir at this weekend’s Eurovision Choir, took victory over choirs from nine other countries. Jens Johansen, Vocal Line’s Choir Master reacted about winning and their simplicity with the following:
“We had not expected to win, but we also knew that everything could happen in this competition, because it was very different choir groups and types of music that the participants came up with.
I actually think it was simple. That we were first and foremost concerned with delivering a message and feeling and it was the music that was at the centre.
It’s a choice we’ve made. That the music should be at the centre, and for us it should not be wrapped in some set choreography. It doesn’t suit us, and we have stuck to that.”
