IRELAND: Where does Eimear Quinn come from?
It may sound like an odd question, but contest sponsor MyHeritage has been doing research into the past of Ireland’s last winner, and has found some interesting results.
First, she is not completely Irish. Mostly, yes, but there are some other interesting elements.

Eimear’s ancestors include a foreman of the cooperage (barrel-making) at the Guinness Brewery in Dublin. Patrick Sharkey started working there in 1894 when he was 14. He retired when he was 60 when it employed 300 coopers and a further 600 labourers.
Here’s Eimear’s performance when she won the 1996 Eurovision Song Contest.
