UK: Where does Michael Rice come from?
This may seem an odd question, as we know he comes from the coastal town of Hartlepool in England’s north-east. But we all have DNA, and sponsor MyHeritage has been looking into his family lines. They prove interesting.
Michael is 65.8% Irish, Scottish and Welsh, 30.3% North and West European, 2.8% Scandinavian, and 1.1% Finnish. I expect he didn’t see that bit coming. His Hartlepool roots may explain why his UK heritage is Irish, Scottish and Welsh rather than English.
Michael sings Bigger than us for the UK in the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest. Does this mean he could pick up votes from some of these areas? How will he do on Saturday 18 May? Tell us what you think.
