LIVE BLOG STARTS HERE!!

Hello everyone! We’re live from Bucharest.

Netta now with her winning song ‘Toy’

I’m not your toy … But tonight I’m your own Mr. B to entertain you 🙂

What an exciting night ahead!

That was a great performance of Netta. We are now in Sala Polivalenta from Bucharest, ready to start the show!

Again, the hosts of tonight are Andrei and Ilinca.

In the Greeen room, we can see now the Israeli ambassador in Romania, saying that he wants to hear lots of 12 points go to Romania!

We hope so too! 🙂

We’re now ready to start!

Almost 🙂 The start has been a little bit delayed 🙂

We are now presented the international jury:

  • Emmelie de Forest – Winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2013
  • Tali Eshkoli – Head of Event & Content at Eurovision 2019
  • William Lee Adams (wiwibloggs)
  • Deban Aderemi (wiwibloggs)
  • Serban Cazan – Music Producer
  • Alex Calancea – Musician, Producer and Composer

The jury will give points from 1 to 12 in the Eurovision style. The public will be the 7th jury, voting for their favourite.

Let the show begin!

Linda Teodosiu – Renegades

We can see an improvement both in style and graphics. Linda is serving us an almost perfect performance – vocally saying. She knows what she’s doing and how to sell her performance. That was a yes from me! Well done!

Olivier Kaye – Right Now

I can feel that Olivier really wants to go to represent Romania. He’s giving us a more energetic performance that we’ve seen in the first Semi-Final. SO far so good. His vocals are on point and I’m entertained. It’s going to be a tough decision tonight….

Laura Bretan – Dear Father

The performance that we’ve all been waiting for! Laura stands alone in a cloud of smoke.

The voice of an angel, Laura delivers tonight a flawless performance. We are spellbound! It was a bit shame she didn’t connect more with the camera. But she ticked all the boxes tonight. Well done Laura!

We had a short view again from the Green Room with the first three contestants.

Are you excited? I am because I have no idea how the voting will go tonight.

Teodora Dinu – Skyscraper

Teodora is one of my guilty pleasures of tonight’s final. I don’t know if she’s nervous, but tonight her vocals are sometimes not in her favour.

Still, I am enjoying this tune. A lot lot lot 🙂 I think she was better in the Semis, but nevertheless, I applaud her effort!

Claudiu Mirea – We Are the Ones

This is what you call a safe and pleasant song at Eurovision. Mirea’s vocals are on point and I’m enjoying this tune, but nothing screams ‘vote me!’ ….well maybe what he’s wearing.

Good effort from Claudiu Mirea!

Aldo Blaga – Your journey

Aldo was the happy surprise of the Semi-Finals. I was not counting him in the cards to make it to the Final. But his warm voice and conviction made me fell in love with his song. I really like this song. Do I think is for Eurovision? I don’t know anymore. I know that I like it and Aldo’s vocals are on point!

We’re back again in the Green Room, where the contestants are talking about their dreams.

That was the end of part 1. Time for some ads now, but we’ll be back!

Ester Peony – On a Sunday

Ester really shows conviction and emotion through her performance. ‘The black widow’ is back again in bright red to take her revenge on the man that left her ‘On a Sunday’.  It seems that every move is carefully studied and she doesn’t want your pity.  She’s come here to collect for all her pain that you’ve caused her. Beware, don’t mess with Ester! Ester is believed to be one of the dark horses tonight in the competition. I don’t know what to say, to me the song is not challenging enough, but she has got what it takes to captivate one’s attention. And has the best show so far…

Letitia Moisescu & Sensibil Balkan – Daina

Now this is a song that almost everyone likes and would like to listen to a party. Daina is what we want from Eurovision in terms of fun, ethnic songs. Letitia is doing her best to convince us that she’s the right candidate to represent Romania at Tel Aviv. I keep stressing that the fun part of the song starts a little bit too late, but nevertheless, I am dancing and singing along. I think that’s a good sign. That or my flu medications are starting to kick in 🙂

Bella Santiago – Army of love

Another big competitor of the night, Bella Santiago is giving us some tribal realness. I don’t mind the similarities in structure with Fuego, because the song sounds nothing like it. And I want to join Bella’s Army of Love. My oh my, that voice! What a powerful performance! Her vocals are on point! Are you team #Belaviv?

Trooper – Destin

A rock song with ethnic influences and lots of ‘lai lai lai’  Trooper’s song is one that you can easily sing along.  I’m enjoying this, but I don’t think it’s the one to go Tel Aviv. What do you think?

Could this be the Phoenix in the Romanian final?

DYA & Lucian Colareza – Without You (Sin Ti)

The beautiful Disney story told by Dya and Lucian Colareza.

I like this song, but I think it takes too much to build up. Having said that, their voices sound good tonight. They are in a dream and they’re taking us with them. I’m happy they changed the choreography, but I would have liked a better connection between them.

Vaida – Underground

Another guilty pleasure of mine. The lyrics make sense and she’s singing with conviction. This time is much better than in the Semi-Finals. Well done Vaida, you did the song and yourself justice!

We’re back again in the Green Room and they all want to fulfill the dream to represent Romania at Eurovision.

Romania start voting NOW!

Call or text the number followed by the number of the song you like! Only if you are in Romania!

Who do you want to win? I don’t even know. Laura, Bella, Ester?

Whilst the public is voting, we see images with the Jury and what they’ve done since arriving in Romania.

I think this is the best show Romania’s had in the latest years.

Just when I thought we’re going to know more, there’s an ad break.

This is how the voting is going so far

What do you think of the current votes? I was expecting more for Bella at this stage.

Now it’s time for Inis Neziri from Albania to charm us with her great vocals. Inis won last year the International Musical Festival ‘Golden Stag’ in Romania (Brasov).

Inis tried her luck in Albania for the 2018 edition of Festivali i Këngës with the song Piedestal. Let’s hope we’re going the hear her one day on the main stage of Eurovision.

Next, Emmelie de Forest is charming us with her voice and presence.

Only teardrops now! Who will shed teardrops of joy tonight?

Time for some Netta flavour and her new single ‘Bassa Sababa’

I think this is the last recap before the lines will be closed.

We’ve now presented the acts that were already chosen to represent their countries.

Romania STOP voting now!

Time to hear the jury points!

First 12 points from Deban go to Ester Peony! Next 12 points go to Laura Bretan. The next 12 points go to Ester Peony again. Emelie gives her 12 points to Laura Bretan. William gives his 12 points to Ester Peony. And the last 12 points go to Ester Peony!

The winner after the combined votes is Ester Peony!

Congratulations to the winner! That was a fantastic night. Thank you all for reading our blog and have a good night or morning!

  1. Ugh, the voting is killing me. Laura Bretan has a pretty voice, but not a special one, and her song is flat-out boring. There go Romania’s chances of doing well in Tel Aviv.

  2. Really liking Laura and Olivier at the moment , my top 2 so far . Both would get a good result at Eurovision and I think if Laura wins, Romania have a potential ESC winner there. Gives me the same feeling as Salvador did back in 2017 for Portugal.
