2. THE CALL: DYNASTY OF LOVE – BERNICEYA
3. ROCK THIS WAY – OMMIEH & ANAKRISEZ

10. SONG OF MY HEART – THE FOUR

Tonight a number of maximum 5 acts will qualify based only on the decision of a National Jury whilst the public will have the chance to qualify another song to the final.
You can watch the show live here or here, but I do hope you’ll have a look to see what my opinions are. For the ones wondering, I’ve been watching Eurovision since 1994 so I might know a thing or two about this competition… or maybe I’m just fooling myself that I do :))) The choice to read further is yours, but I do appreciate your views and comments (I do respond to them)

LIVE BLOG STARTS HERE!!
Hey there! Make sure you have snacks and drinks handy because you don’t want to miss this show! A few more minutes until we’re live from Iasi!
Good evening Europe! Buna seara or Buna dimineata! I’ve brought my box of tissues as the lovely cold didn’t spare me this winter. Hope all of you are alright … the show is about to start!
And we’re live! Welcome to Iasi 🙂
The Sky Dance Company starts the show with a dreamy performance. Follow your dream!
We are hearing now a mix of all Romanian entries at Eurovision … ending with ‘It’s a miracle’
The hosts of tonight’s semifinal: Aurelian Temisan and Ilinca Avram
They are letting us know the rules of tonight: A Jury will decide the first 5 Finalists whilst the public will decide the 6th one.
And this is our jury. They will give their points in the well known Eurovision style from 1 to 12.
And now the first act:
A rock act with a traditional sound. I like it as a song, but besides seeing a lot of people on stage, I don’t see any clear sort of choreography or thought put into the stage performance. I’ve enjoyed the song, but not the show. Trooper has a lot of experience on the Romanian rock stage. I expected more!
THE CALL: DYNASTY OF LOVE – BERNICEYA
It’s an opera Disney-ish song, but somewhere along the way, they’ve lost the plot. It’s pretty but, but not my cup of tea. I don’t even know what was that…
Have to say though, she looked stunning.
ROCK THIS WAY – OMMIEH & ANAKRISEZ
I must admit I like this jazz-rock-ish song and the silhouettes on the background. Their voices sound good together, but I would have liked to see more cohesion between the two singers. Not bad, but not great either.
And it’s time now to see the Green Room – they say it’s a world premiere as they have made it part of the stage.
Up next is Teodora Dinu – one of my personal favourites of tonight’s show.
SKYSCRAPER – TEODORA DINU
I’m really enjoying the background with the skyscrapers falling apart, but unfortunately, I think Teodora is sick. Her vocals are a bit shaky.
Having said that, she completely turned it around towards the end. Slay girl, slay!
WITHOUT YOU (SIN TI) – DYA & LUCIAN COLAREZA
Dya in green, Lucian in mustard yellow, a white dancer and red+white background: doesn’t look good at all. The performance was sweet, the voices were good, but I wasn’t convinced. Sorry, I’m not buying it.
WEIGHT OF THE WORLD – NICOLA
My, I’m happy to see Nicola back, but even though she sounds ok, the stage show looks messy and underrehearsed. Come on Nicola, don’t break my heart!
Good effort, but you need more fire! (and another stylist) Still, good to see you again on the stage!
Back in the Green Room for now. Everyone wants to have a place in the Final…
I forgot to mention that I like the stage with all those panels.
Before we can hear the next contestant, it’s time for our first ad break.
THE WAY IT GOES – STEAM
I’m digging the song and I’m a fan of the red and black/white roses on the background, but what are you doing STEAM?
No connection what so ever with the camera. I’m dizzy from all this right-left-right -left walk along the stage. No! Stop! This is a TV show. We need to see you connect.
UNDERGROUND – VAIDA
Now Vaida’s song is another guilty pleasure of mine. It’s a pure Eurovision classical ballad! So far this is my favourite performance of the night. Blue lights, wind machine, I’m sold. Yes, she had an issue at the end, but she can improve until the final. Well done! She should qualify.
WE ARE THE ONES – CLAUDIU MIREA
From blue to green, we are like in a fairytale. I’m enjoying this one. It’s a bit too simple but works for me. He has a good presence and connects well with the camera. I think it has a good chance to qualify.
Just two more songs tonight. I know, I am waiting for Bella too! ❤
SONG OF MY HEART – THE FOUR
I had high hopes for this song, as it’s a fun boppy tune. It shows they’ve put a lot of effort into it, but I’m not convinced by the vocals as they don’t sound so great together. Good effort, but it’s not my favourite. There’s time for improvement though…
ARMY OF LOVE – BELLA SANTIAGO
Yes! This must be the best performance of the night. Great vocals, great choreography, dance tune – I’m sold. Bella is selling and I’m buying. No deny, that was the best we’ve seen all night. No problem for Bella to qualify! She did not disappoint and oh boy, I’m happy about that.
And with that, we’ve seen all the contestants. It’s time for the jury to decide who’s going to receive their points.
Whilst they decide, we hear the interval act: Iuliana Beregoi – a very young and talented artist. She started by singing Loreen’s Euphoria.
I think I’ll take advantage of this to give my prediction as the 6 finalists in my opinion: Bella Santiago, Vaida, Claudiu Mirea, Teodora Dinu, The Four and maybe Steam/Rock this way?
Iuliana was asked if she would like to go to Eurovision one day. She replied, yes. I guess she still has to wait to have the right age.
And now it’s time to find the votes of the jury, but that only after an ad break.
Until we’re back live, I want to thank you, the readers of this live blog for your patience and for being here.
And we’re back! Let’s see the votes 😀
All contestants received an envelope. One says ‘congratulations’, the other says ‘good luck at televote’!
Trooper is the first act qualified. Teodora qualifies as well. Next act to qualify is Dya & Lucian Colareza. Claudiu Mirea is the 4th act to qualify and of course, Bella Santiago is the 5th act to go straight to the Final.
Now it’s time for the Romanian public to vote for their favourite among the ones that aren’t qualified already. Who do you think is going to be the 6th act?
We’re in the Green Room. All contestants are trying to convince the public to vote for them.
Vaida said she doesn’t like to do things halfway so she asked the public to support her journey and send her to the final.
Whilst the public is voting, we are presented a short video with the jury and their stay in Iasi.
Once again we have on the stage ‘The Sky Dance Company’…
Come on TVR, we want to know the 6th finalist!
Apparently, the public has less than 5 minutes to vote now. Did you vote?
Stop Voting Now!
And the 6th finalist is Vaida!
Thank you all for reading. Good night from me and see you next week!
