In less than two weeks we’ll find out Australia’s representative for Eurovision Song Contest 2017. More exactly on March 7. Until then we thought to propose a list of alleged artists who could represent Australia this year in Kyiv.
Following the trend of recent years to choose artists who participated in singing competitions, but not forgetting other artists, we compiled a short list of potential representatives:
1. Isaiah Firebrace – the 17 year old singer who won the eighth season of The X Factor Australia in 2016. He just released the music video for his single „It’s Gotta Be You”
- 2. Cyrus Villanueva – The winner of The X Factor Australia in 2015. The 20 yo singer released his studio album Cyrus on 9 December 2015.
- He also stated on facebook earlier this month: „been super busy focusing on some exciting projects. Hopefully tonights jam can satisfy until more is revealed”
- 3. The Veronicas – identical twin sisters Lisa and Jessica Origliasso were rumoured to be Australia’s representative for Eurovision last year too.
- On their twitter account they said earlier this year that they are back in the studio. We know they are recording for a new album. Could it include a song for Eurovision?
4. Anthony Callea – the runner-up in the 2004 season of Australian Idol.
Callea’s debut single “The Prayer” is the fastest-selling single by an Australian artist. It held the number one spot on the ARIA Singles Chart for five weeks.
He stated earlier this year on his facebook page that he’s preparing for the next album and that exciting times are ahead. Could he be talking about a Eurovision presence?
5. Jess & Matt – a duo consisting of Jess Dunbar and boyfriend Matt Price. They came 3rd on the 2015 edition of The X Factor Australia.
They also posted on facebook that they are excited about something incredible and that they will be able to share it with us very soon. Will it be on March 7th?
