Pioneer by Hungarian vocalist, Freddie has been selected to represent Hungary at Eurovision 2016 in Stockholm. Freddie? Freddie who, you’re probably asking. Don’t worry, we here at Eurovision Ireland have got it covered. Here’s a complete dossier, ok, I exaggerate slightly, 10 facts about Freddie.

So who’s Freddie? His full name is Gábor Alfréd Fehérvári. Yes, we can see why he shortened it to Freddie. 😉

How old is he? Born in Budapest, Hungary on 8th April 1990, Freddie is 25 years old. Happy quarter-century, Freddie!

Star sign: April 8 puts Freddie in the house of Aries, the ram. Ariens are independent, self-assured, strong-willed and ambitious. That rings true as Freddie’s ambition is going to take him all the way to Eurovision.

Shares his birthday with: Movie actor Taylor Kitsch, actress Gabriella Wilde, Guns’n Roses guitarist Izzy Stradlin and actress Patricia Arquette.

Musical career: Since 2010, Freddie has been pursuing a career in music, playing guitar and singing in various bands.

Rising Star: Freddie kick-started his career by entering the singing competition Rising Star, in which he ultimately placed fourth.  Freddie’s star was definitely on the rise.

Summer hit: After Rising Star, Freddie performed his first single Mary Joe on the Petofi Top 30 show and it became one of the summer dance hits of 2015. This song was written by former Eurovision 2014 hopeful Andras Kallay Saunders. Even then, the stars were aligning for Freddie.

Eurovision hope: To date, Hungary’s highest placing has been 4th in 1994 with Friderika Bayer’s song Kinek Moldjam el Vetkeimet? Can Freddie finally win Eurovision gold for Hungary? Who knows?

Lucky charm: Many Eurovision contestants admit to having some kind of a lucky charm or ritual that helps them feel confident. So what’s Freddie’s? In recent interview, he revealed that “Tranquility is my lucky charm.” We totally get that.
