On Saturday 5th March, Krajowe Eliminacje 2016 takes place in Poland. 9 songs will go head-to-head and the winner will go on to be the Polish entry for Eurovision 2016 at Stockholm. Let’s take a look at song number one:
Dorota Osinska – Universal
Jen’s Verdict: Dorota has a fantastic voice which does the song great justice. However, I’m not sure ‘Universal’ will have enough universal appeal to make it to Stockholm. 8 points.
Garrett’s Verdict: Well in the battle of the ‘Universe/YOUniverse’ this is way more interesting than that being offered by Molly Sanden in Sweden. This song is what I would expect to hear on the show ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ and it is interpretive week for a couple! Dorota is the ‘Lady in Red’ and has a serious set of pipes on her! The woman can sing! As for the song though I find it worthy and by that I mean Juries would find it hard not to score this high but the public may not find it an instant song that will stick in their head out of a group of 43 songs. 6 points
James’ Verdict: ‘Universal’ is beautifully sung by Dorota and is indeed very pleasant, though for me lacks that attention-grabber than a Eurovision hit needs. This is the kind of song that grows on you the more you listen to it, but the audience in May have only those 3 minutes to be wowed – in which case, I’m uncertain ‘Universal’ will stand out. But still, you can’t argue with that voice! Gratulacje, Dorota! 5 points
John’s Verdict: Oooh. Where did this come from? I immediately think that this could be a song from a stage musical, or even an animated Disney film. I also think I’ve heard this sort of thing at Eurovision before but I can’t put my finger on where. As ballads from Poland go, this is an improvement on some of their other attempts. Dorota’s biggest hurdle will be winning Krajowe Eliminacje. If she wins that, this will sail through to the Saturday night final in Stockholm. 9 points
So that gives Dorota : 28 Points out of a possible 48
Elaine may weigh in way in with some votes later on.
