Eurovision Winner Conchita Wurst gave a powerful TEDx speech on “Love Followed By Respect” that you can watch here. Some of you may never have heard of a ‘TEDx Event’. If so here is a quick guide to their format and more importantly their goal.

What is TEDx?

“The TEDx Program is designed to help communities, organizations and individuals to spark conversation and connection through local TED-like experiences.

At TEDx events, a screening of TED Talks videos — or a combination of live presenters and TED Talks videos — sparks deep conversation and connections at the local level.

TEDx events are planned and coordinated independently, under a free license granted by TED. Learn about TEDx event types.”

So What Did Conchita Discuss On Her TEDx?

As we said in the title of our article Conchita’s talk was on “The Unsptoppable Future Of Love & Respect”.

She spoke of her personal experiences of a child growing up in Austria and how her life was shaped by the experiences of herself and of others.

She dreams of a “future where love is followed by respect”. What does it mean “being gay” and more importantly the present social culture of HIV/Aids.

She took the opportunity to read a letter that she received from Sir Elton John where he spoke of the stigma associated with Aids and praised Conchita for “being true to yourself is the most dignified and passionate way to live”.

This was a heartfelt talk given by Conchita Wurst in an eloquent manner. “Community” is a strong message in “the unstoppable future of love and respect”.

Her final words were “respect the bad and love the good”

Well we want to hear your thoughts on this important message. Tell us what you think of “The Unstoppable Future Of Love and Respect”? What do you think of the current stigma attached with HIV/Aids? And do we like in a society where you can be “true to yourself”?

Let us know.
