Farid Mammadov of Azerbaijan has taken to the stage for his first Eurovision rehearsal and they have sent a clear message to Europe – “We liked hosting the contest last year and want it back again for 2014”.
So the equation for the day is as follows Farid + Giant Snow Globe + Another Man + A Beautiful Woman = CONTENDER
This stage performance really when you describe it should not work but it does – There is a strong chance we are going back to Baku. Fraid is dressed in a grey shirt, trousers and waistcoat but we think he is going to be dressed in white – and why is that?
Well Farid performs next to a life sized glass box, that contains another man in it who is dressed in balck – again we think he will in black on the night and will have a black mask over him – so that he is Farid’s shadow – a job many of us would like to have.

Performance starts with Farid sitting on top of the box and his shadow man in the box is inverted and replicating Farid’s every move. “Defying Gravity” again but this is how it should be done. Farid and his shadow man are in total synchronicity upon which a stunning woman enters the stage from the catwalk in the audience in a dramatic red dress that has a train the entire length of the stage.
The glass box that contains the shadow man turns into a snow globe or think “The Crystal Maze” and is filled with floating discs. This sounds rather OTT but trust me this is stunning. Farid’s vocals and diction were perfect and his athleticism makes this complex routine seem so natural. Eurovision Ireland always said that Farid was the performer to watch when he was in the Azeri National Final Selection process and we predicted he would win there and we are predicting that he is going to be Top 3 with this performance.

I enjoyed Farid’s first rehearsal!!!
He was AMAZING Nataliya
Farid’s performance was amazing. Hope, he will become the winner.
He has a great chance Leta
It is a ridiculous performance, an extravaganza circus trying to hide a boring ballad
Boring ballad? It’s a great lovesong, don’t be annoying person!
Yes dear extremely boring for me, and unfortunately Farrid is not a great singer either in my humble opinion. Obviously we have different views about what is interesting or brilliant and what is dull and trashy, for me this is a trashy performance. Have a nice day
That is the great thing about Eurovision Thanos – we all don’t agree 🙂
Who do you think is good this year?
Is it not a song contest not a magic show
I don’t think that you’re right! Show was one of the beast! Hope, Farid will be at least at the Top-10. 12p. from Luxembourgh as well!
They sure seem to know what they are doing.
This is awesome! Good luck, Farid!
Good lad, Farid! One of the greatest in his kind!
