Cyprus First Rehearsal – Day 2

Despina Olympiou - Cypriot Eurovision Entrant 2013

Despina Olympiou – Cypriot Eurovision Entrant 2013

Despina Olympiou takes to the stage for Cyprus in their first rehearsal at Eurovision 2013. With her first run through we also witness this years first use of the wind machine. Her song An Me Thimasai (f You Remember Me) is another ballad beautifully sung – if you can ignore that at 1 point it sounds like she is singing about Lobster Thermidor!!!

Despina is on the stage with a flesh coloured dress which has a black lace outer layer which adds class and sophistication. They have kept this performance simple and there are some beautiful camera angles and another dark blue backdrop depicting an evening sky. She is alone on the stage and just relies on her own vocal which is very strong.

This has always been a marginal qualifier for me although it now comes across much stronger than i thought it would. She is a great singer and the vocal and understated performance may just be enough to push it over the line come Tuesday night.
