It has been the worst kept secret for some time but both Jedward and Mary Byrne look to represent Ireland at Eurovision 2015.

Jedward brought Ireland to the finals of the contest in 2011 and 2012 with their songs ‘Lipstick’ and ‘Waterline’. Mary Byrne was a semi finalist in the UK’s X-Factor in 2010 and has since released 3 albums in Ireland.

Jedward have said

“We believe we can win for Ireland. All we need is the right song. We’ve no fear of a big stage. We just need the right song, and if there’s any talented songwriters out there, who wants to help us win Eurovision for Ireland, we want to hear from you.”

Mary Byrne is hoping that her song that has been written by Eurovision veteran Kark Broderick will be the song that goes to Vienna for Ireland.

“Eurovision is one of my guilty pleasures. It’s an honour to have been put forward.”

  1. Oh for God’s sake! A Karl Broderick song performed by Mary Byrne? Is this a joke? I know it’s very early days, but if this comes to pass, I officially give up on Eurovision.

      • Because, as lovely as Mary is, I just don’t think she’s good enough as a singer to represent Ireland on the global stage. And as for Karl Broderick…someone who’s guilty of inflicting both “Love?” and “The Movie Song” on an undeserving world should be banned from entering song-writing competitions for the rest of their natural lives.
