
SVT, the Swedish national broadcaster, have confirmed participation at the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest, in Burgas.
SVT have confirmed that Melodifestivalen will be used, as is tradition. Launched in 1959, Melodifestivalen has been held, with the exception of 1964 due to a strike, 1970 & 1976 due to withdrawal. Sweden will be celebrating their 66th participation.
Song submissions for Melodifestivalen 2027 today and will remain open until Friday 11th September, at 23:59 CEST. Following an assessment by a industry jury, 30 entries are expected to compete in Melodifestivalen, with approximately 30% of selected entries to be performed with lyrics mainly in Swedish. The competing artists and composers will be revealed in a press conference in either November or December 2026.
