The EBU, the European Broadcasting Union, have spoken out, ahead of the 2027 Eurovision Young Musicians, in Liepāja.
Amélie Rossignol-Farjon, the EBU’s Senior Project Manager for Eurovision Young Musicians, has pointed out that due to the momentum of the Contest, the 2027 Eurovision Young Musicians will be a specific edition and not necessarily the start of an annual cycle. Amélie Rossignol-Farjon, had the following to say to Eurofestivales:
“In recent years, the competition has experienced significant positive momentum and consistent interest from EBU members. When our Latvian colleagues at LSM expressed their willingness to host the next edition, the opportunity arose to further capitalise on that momentum and hold the event earlier than usual.
At this stage, Eurovision Young Musicians 2027 should be considered a one-off event, rather than the start of a confirmed annual cycle. We cannot confirm at this time whether the contest will adopt a more regular annual format in the future.
If we maintain the current format (which is the intention at the moment), we anticipate that participation levels will remain similar. We are very careful to ensure sufficient performance time for each musician in the orchestra, and there are currently no plans to introduce semifinals.
We are currently working with our colleagues at LSM on the planning, and the date will be announced later.”
