
Here at Eurovision Ireland, we are taking a historical look back on our favourite Contests past and present, on the very day they took place. Today it’s April 4th:
Saturday 4th April 1981
On this day in 1981, the 26th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest took place in Dublin, Ireland. Cyprus debuted, while Israel & Yugoslavia returned to the Contest. Italy & Morocco withdrew. The United Kingdom took victory with Bucks Fizz performing “Making Your Mind Up” and 136 points.
