On July 13th, RAI, the Italian national broadcaster announced that seventeen cities announced their interest in a Host City bid for the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest. Now six of those interested cities have dropped out following a non-submission of a bid book. They were:
- Bertinoro di Romagna
- Florence
- Jesolo
- Matera
- Trieste
- Viterbro
This leaves the following eleven cities in the race to become Host City:
- Acireale
- Alessandria
- Bologna
- Genoa
- Milan
- Palazzolo Acreide
- Pesaro
- Rimini
- Rome
- Sanremo
- Turin
The Host City bid books will now be examined by RAI and the EBU. An announcement in who the Host City will be in 2022 is expected by the end of August.
