#IRELAND: Maria Christian continues to impress on The Voice France
As we reported earlier this year, Maria Christian, now known as Maria Cuche, has been competing in The Voice: La Plus Belle Voix, the French edition of the international Voice franchise.
Back in January, Maria sang the Irish standard Danny Boy, and progressed through as one of the picks of none other than Lara Fabian (LU 88).
Then, in March, she appeared again, singing the Secret Garden standard You raise me up.
Last Saturday, Maria continued when she was one of the three performers (of seven) under Lara that made it through to the next stage. Her choice this time was Memory, composed by Andrew Lloyd-Webber and Trevor Nunn. Here’s Maria’s performance.
As we know, Maria represented Ireland in the 1985 Eurovision Song Contest, finishing sixth. Here’s that performance, that opened the contest in Gothenburg
Maria now lives in Départment de Meurthe-et-Moselle in north-eastern France, with her husband and seven children.
Lara, of course, represented Luxembourg in the 1988 Eurovision Song Contest in Dublin. She finished fourth.
Eurovision Ireland wishes Maria well in the next stage of The Voice.
