It’s the day all of us at Eurovision Ireland have been waiting for – the first official announcement regarding Ireland’s song for the Eurovision Song Contest 2020!
Philip McMahon, director of the theatre and entertainment company ThisIsPopBaby, announced today on Twitter that he would be the Creative Director of Ireland’s 2020 Eurovision entry. The theatre company have performed across Europe and the globe, with their show “Riot” winning Best Production at the Dublin Fringe Festival in 2017. Philip Connaughton is due to choreograph the Irish entry for Rotterdam.
Furthermore, Alan Swan, Head of Music Content for RTÉ 2FM retweeted McMahon’s post and teased that RTÉ 2FM have been involved in the selection of the Irish artist and will be have news on them very soon! Exciting, eh?
Considering that RTÉ 2FM usually specialise in current pop music made by up and coming artists, could this be what we could expect for Ireland in the Netherlands in May? We can’t wait to find out!
Sarah McTernan’s upbeat pop song “22” came last in Tel Aviv – so the only way for Ireland is up!!
Who would you like to see sing for Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest? Can we get back to the final? Can we claim an elusive 8th win?!
