Here at Eurovision Ireland, we look at what happened at the Eurovision Song Contest and Family of Events #OnThisDay. Today is 12th May 2018 and we look at Serbia winning on their debut.

12th May – 11 Years Ago Today

On this day in 2007, the 52nd Eurovision Song Contest took place in the Hartwell Arena, Helsinki. Marija Serifovic took part for Serbia, becoming their first entry to date (on their debut), to win for her country. Marija Serifovic finished with a 33 point margin over her nearest competitor, Verka Serduchka from the Ukraine.

12th May – 17 Years Ago Today

On this day in 2001, the 46th Eurovision Song Contest took place in the Parken Stadium, Copenhagen. Tanel Padar, Dave Benton & 2XL took part for Serbia, becoming their first entry to date, to win for their country. They finished with a 21 point margin over their nearest competitor, Rollo & King from Denmark.
