For a while now, we have been aware that Denmark has been against returning to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. It seems that Lithuania are now looking at the Contest in a similar vein – as Audrius Giržadas, the Lithuanian Head of Delegation explained in the following brief quote:
“This contest has become a clone of the main Eurovision Song Contest and has nothing to do with childhood, little girls go on stage with clipped hairs, glued eyelashes and bare belly, copying Beyoncé and Christina Aguilera – this is not an event that we would like to participate in.”
The Junior Eurovision Song Contest that debuted back in 2003 is completely different to what we have today – many would say, a much more professional show. Do you think Denmark and Lithuania have gone a step too far in their explanations, or do you think they are actually right in what they are saying?
