Who will represent Ireland at Eurovision 2018? Well we could know the answer to that in a few hours.
The band Heathers seem to be now out of the frame according to The Sun newspaper. It now looks like a “solo male artist.”
“Ding Dong” – Irish singer Ryan O’Shaughnessy just posted on Twitter that he has a ‘Big Announcement’ tomorrow.
Ryan maybe familiar to some people as he shot to fame when he made the final of Britain’s Got Talent along with his trusty guitar. He went on to chart success in Ireland and the UK where his self titled EP went to number 1 & 9 respectively. He scored 2 top 3 singles in Ireland, the last being in 2013 but he’s been feverishly writing and producing new material so we believe plus he’s grown a massive mop of hair – please see exhibit 1 below. That curl alone is worth a few points!
You may recognise his surname as his uncle Gary O’Shaughnessy represented Ireland at Eurovision in 2001 in Copenhagen – Ireland got relegated following his placing – thanks for the SIX points Europe – and missed out on the contest in Riga in 2002 😢
So is Ryan riding the crest of media speculation and going to release a new song or is he packing his swimming trunks for a two week holiday in Lisbon. We’ll know tomorrow.
Would Ryan be a good choice to represent Ireland at Eurovision 2018? Let us know.
