ISRAEL: confirmation of participation in Eurovision 2018
New Israeli broadcaster IPBC/Kan (כאן) has confirmed that it will be sending a representative to the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest.
Since the previous broadcaster, the IBA closed down in May, its successor’s application to formally join the EBU is still pending. However, we understand that in the meantime IPBC will be granted an exception and will be allowed to compete.
The performer and song are likely to be chosen through ‘The Next Star’ (HaKokhav HaBa/הַכּוֹכָב הַבָּא).
This brings the total number of confirmed countries to 38. Who are they? See the current list HERE.
In Kyiv, IMRI (he likes to shout) made the final and finished 23rd out of 26 with the song ‘I feel alive’.
Israel has won the contest on three occasions, most recently in Birmingham in 1998 with ‘Diva’ by Dana International.
