Imitation is the highest form of flattery – as they say.
Poli Genova returns to Eurovision with the song ‘If Love Was A Crime’. The song has strong echoes to Justin Bieber’s ‘Sorry’ with the sampling of the background cry that you hear. Anyone who says that they don’t tap their feet when a Bieber song comes on is just LYING! Come out of the closet everyone!
Loved the song from Bieber and have a strong fondness for ‘If Love Was A Crime’. The song is one of the more contemporary of the Eurovision class of 2016. A good build to the song that builds to a cracking chorus!
I do like the ‘О, дай ми любовта’ in the chorus. What do you mean you don’t speak Bulgarian? It means ‘Oh, Give Me Love’. I especially like this as it obviously benefits the local Bulgarian population yet adds an interesting layer for the international audience.
This song will benefit from Poli’s strong on stage presence and I am glad they have gone for something more accessible that her rock song in 2011. Plus she wins the prize for best official video accessory – have you seen the guy! Phew!
This is radio friendly and I think is in the right Semi Final to get the votes to take her and Bulgaria into the Final.
No need to be ‘Sorry’ Poli as ‘If Love Was A Crime’ then arrest me!
