Eurovision 2016: The story so far and Important Dates For You!

It seems that not a moment goes by without a new songs being added to the 2016 playlist! Just sometimes I have to do my actual job and this can take me away from the Eurovision world for a while so I’ve just spent a bit of time refreshing my brain on the artists and songs that have been announced so far, and looking at what’s to come in the next few weeks.

So, here’s a quick look at how 2016 is shaping up…

Semi-final 1 (10th May)

 

With songs:

Armenia: Iveta Mukuchyan  “LoveWave”
Austria: Zoe  “Loi d’ici”
Bosnia & Herzegovina: Dala & Deen feat. Ana Rucner and Jala “Ljubav je”
Cyprus: Minus One “Alter Ego”
Finland: Sandhja  “Sing It Away”
Hungary: Freddie “Pioneer”
Iceland: Greta Salome  “Hear Them Calling”
Moldova: Lidia Isac  “Falling Stars”
Montenegro: Highway “The Real Thing”

 

Songs still to be chosen/announced:

Azerbaijan: Artist and song will be announced 14th March.
Croatia: Nina Kralijc is the chosen artist her song will be announced on 9th March.
Czech Republic:  There is no confirmed date for announcement, we’ll keep you posted.
Estonia: The national selection show airs on 5th March, we’ll be live blogging as usual!                                           Greece: Argo “Utopian Land”
Malta: Ira Losco and the song Chameleon were selected but TVM announced that they may change the song; we await an announcement from Valetta…
The Netherlands: Douwe Bob is the artist – we’ll find out the song on 4th March.
Russia: Sergey Lazarev has been announced as the artist, the song will be revealed on 5th March.
San Marino: Turkish singer Serhat has been chosen, we’ll hear the song on 9th March.

 

Semi Final 2 (12th May)

 

With songs:

Belarus: Ivan “Help You Fly”
Belgium: Laura Tesoro   “What’s the Pressure”
Denmark: Lighthouse X  “Soldiers of Love”
Georgia: Nika Kocharov & Young Georgian Lolitaz “Midnight Gold”
Ireland: Nicky Byrne  “Sunlight”
Latvia: Justs  “Heartbeat”
Macedonia: Kaliopi “Dona”
Norway: Agnete  “Icebreaker”
Slovenia: ManuElla  “Blue and Red”
Switzerland: Rykka “The Last of Our Kind”
Ukraine: Jamala  “1944”

 

Songs still to be chosen/announced:

Albania: Eneda Tarifa is the artist her song is being changed, we await news.
Australia:  I am writing this on the same day that Conchita Wurst will announce this years Eurovision entry for Australia as part of her concert at the Sydney Opera House, stay tuned…
Bulgaria: Poli Genova will represent Bulgaria, the song will be announced soon.
Israel:  Like Australia, Israel will announce their artist and song on 3rd March, stay tuned…
Lithuania: National selection show is on 12th March, join us for our live blog.
Poland: John will be on hand to live blog the National Selection show on Sunday 6th March
Romania: Join me (Lisa-Jayne) on the live blog for Romania’s National Selection show on Sunday 6th March!
Serbia:We’ll find out the artist and song on 10th March.

 

Big-5 & Hosts

With songs:

France: Amir  “J’ai cherche”
Germany: Jamie-Lee Kriewitz  “Ghost”
Spain: Barei “Say Yay!”
United Kingdom: Joe & Jake  “You’re Not Alone”

 

Songs to be chosen/announced:

Italy: Francesca Michielin will represent Italy, we await news of the song.
Sweden:  Melodifestivalen final is on 12th March, of course you can join us for our live blog right here at Eurovision Ireland

  1. I am truly wondering what meaning there is to national selections, when the singer finally decides to change the song ! TV broadcasters should make internal choices then…
