French Eurovision Star Amina Annabi returns to the music scene as part of the stunning “The North Project”. You will famously remember that Amina drew at the 1991 Eurovision Song Contest along with Sweden’s Carola. Under the old Eurovision voting count back system, Carola denied Amina of a stunning Eurovision win with her song “”Le dernier qui a parlé”.

Amina is now back as part of a truly amazing new musical experience called “The North Project”. Song writer and producer MaJiKer presents his new project NORTH. (#NORTHproject) “NORTH is a collection of Nordic folk melodies interpreted by eclectic voices, where layers of vocal harmony & human beatbox evoke the frosty chill of nature.”

“The project features traditional melodies from Iceland, Sweden and Norway with new lyrics written in English about nature. It’s a love letter to the beautiful landscapes of the NORTH.”

The New release from the “North Project” is a song performed by Amina and is called “Aurora Borealis” (Byssan Lull). This is a Swedish lullaby that has been tenderly reworked with new music sounds yet at the same time embracing the folk essence of the song. Amina’s vocals add warmth and yet are chilling at the same time. This is truly a haunting yet at the same time charming musical experience – and it is an experience. “With new lyrics written in English by the project’s creator MaJiKer, these folk melodies from Iceland, Sweden and Norway are shared through recordings, live performances, songbooks and interactive content”.

The recording of the album is ongoing and features vocals from a remarkable selection of artists from all over the world, with new names to be announced in due course. This is truly a “Musical Odyssey” that needs to be explored.

Amina’s song has been kindly made free to download by the #NORTHproject here

In the traditional of folk music, this project thrives when it’s spread orally. Share #NORTHproject and join the adventure.
