The interval Act at the Semi Final of Eurovision in 2009, saw the Russian Army Choir – whose name comes under various guises – amazed the tv audience with their mixture of traditional Russian songs and of course their duet with t.A.T.u.
Recently they have seen a resurgence in their popularity. A small part of the choir appeared on Russian tv to sing the Oscar-winning James Bond and Adele song “Skyfall”. A little ironic, as the fictional character has for many films been battling Russian forces. Despite only having 7 members of the choir present, their performance is still spectacular and spine tingling!
Just when you thought that Welsh crooner Tom Jones was tucked away in “The Valley” recovering from the last season of “The Voice” – his “Sex Bomb” turns up courtesy of the “Read Army Choir” again. We love the flamboyant dance that takes place about 2 minutes and 30 seconds into the song – has to be seen to be believed!
It is a shame that Eurovision limits the number of singers on stage to 6 – we would happily take the full choir if they would reproduce these performances.
In 2009 they graced the Eurovision stage in Moscow.
