The rumour mill about whom will represent the UK at Eurovision 2013 just gets bigger and bigger. This in itself could be the problem as to why the UK Press have a dual edged sword attitude towards the contest – if the BBC allows the rumours each year to spiral, then when the choice is made – and none of the rumours are true – it leaves a bad taste in the mouth.
So that is why I am taking this news with a pinch of salt. Yes in the Swedish online newspaper www.aftonbladet.se , they are claiming that the highly successful Swedish singer/writer/producer (and multi Eurovision composer) Fredrik Kempe has been drafted in by the BBC to write their entry to the Eurovision Song Contest for 2013.
Fredrik Kempe has written (including 2013) 22 songs in the Swedish National Eurovision Selection aka Melodifestivalen and performed 2 of these songs himself. Of these 22 entries he has won Melodifestivalen on 3 occasions
2008 “Hero” performed by Charlotte Perrelli – (Fredrik Kempe (music/lyrics), Bobby Ljunggren (music)
- 2009 “La Voix” performed by Malena Ernman – (Malena Ernman (lyrics), Fredrik Kempe (music/lyrics)
- 2011 “Popular” performed by Eric Saade – (Fredrik Kempe (music/lyrics)
His 2011 entry at Eurovision has been his best performing song to date when Eric Saade came 3rd at the contest in Düsseldorf.

Also not confining himself to just writing songs for Sweden at Eurovision, in 2010 he composed and co-wrote the Norwegian entry, “My Heart Is Yours”, that was performed by Didrik Solli-Tangen
Aftonbladet.se continues in its article by saying that Girls Aloud Star Kimberley Walsh is the artist that he has recorded the song with. Kimberley has indeed been in Sweden recently recording music for her new solo album that is being released next month. Kimberley is on a major charm offensive at present following her very successful run in the BBC show “Strictly Come Dancing”.
British BBC Radio commentator Scott Mills has said that the UK Eurovision song has already been recorded and details should be released shortly. One cannot help but feel the British UK fans would actually like to see another current big name act fly their flag at the Eurovision Song Contest – like that of Blue in 2011 that brought the UK to 11th place in the final.
So Swedish exports look like they could be on the increase if indeed Fredrik Kempe is the composer of the UK Eurovision Entry.

I leave all my worldly possessions to my husband Pierre, because clearly I’ve died and gone to heaven if this comes true!
LOL – It would be great if Kempe has written a song for the UK
