Trade unions ACV VRT and ACOD-VRT, who represent staff at Belgian broadcaster VRT, have announced plans to strike on the days of the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest, in Burgas. This FOLLOWS confirmation that VRT will participate at the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest, in Burgas.

In a joint statement, representatives from both the unions, had the following to say:

“With this, the two unions want to protect all employees who have moral objections to contribute from far or near to the programs and broadcasts of and about the Eurovision Song Contest.

ACV VRT hopes in the first instance that the management will reverse its decision to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest.

If the management still wants to stand firm and remain on the wrong side of history, we want to protect all employees with this strike notice and offer them the opportunity to distance themselves from this wrong choice. If this results in the semi-finals and the final not being broadcast, ACV VRT will not regret this at all.”
