#BIRTHDAY: 13 Sept – Adonxs from Czechia is 31

Do you admire those singers that come from one country, but end up representing another? Maybe they’ve lived in their adopted country for many years. Or their two countries are such close pals that they sometimes seem interchangeable?

Today’s birthday boy Adonxs (né Adam Pavlovčin) is a Slovak native, but we know that they’ve been sitting things out for many years now. So what does a Slovak fan do? He moves to Czechia and eventually gets the gig from there instead. Adonxs had a highly fancied song, but it sort of misfired a little and he failed to make the Grand Final in Basel. His best televote score was from the ‘Rest of the world’ vote, which may have been mainly Slovaks. So there’s maybe a case for STVR to have a go sometime soon. But, for now, the last Slovak to sing in a Grand Final was in 1998.
