#BIRTHDAY: Can Bonomo from Türkiye is 36 today

It’s always sad when a country decides to sit out our favourite TV show. We had a now-absent country yesterday, and we have another one today.

Back in 2012, we saw the last entry to date from Türkiye/Turkey. We want them back, but in the meantime their swansong came from today’s birthday boy Can Bonomo. It came in fellow Turkic nation Azerbaijan in the splendour of the Crystal Hall, and young Can got a massive reception from his Azeri brethren. His boat shenanigans were a nice touch – enough to give him and Türkiye/Turkey a seventh-place finish. The Turks were never afraid to use native writers, and in that respect we really miss them. They did create their own Türkvizyon show, which is on hiatus. So, for now, savour a competitive Turkish song.
