
Tonight , one of the first major key moments of the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 took place at St Georges Hall, in this year’s host city ,Liverpool. It was hosted by AJ Odudu and Rylan .

Prior to the broadcast , we have already had sight of the main theme and logo for this year’s contest. The theme is “United by Music and the logo represents this by hearts beating together

We saw the official insignia key handover, from the Mayor of Turin Stefano Lo Russo to the Mayor of Liverpool , Joanne Anderson, meaning that Liverpool has now officially become the host city for Eurovision 2023.

In between the start of the show and the draws , we had films showing Liverpool and people from the city telling us what it means for their city to be hosting Eurovision this year .We also saw famous Ukrainians, such as Nikita Kuzman, professional dancer in Strictly Come Dancing , describing what music and Eurovision means to Ukraine and looking forward to Liverpool hosting this year.

We then saw the draw to see which semi Final the Big 5 plus last year’s winners, Ukraine will be voting in .Local school children from Liverpool and Ukrainian students assisted with the draw .

Then the big moment came. the draw to allocate which country goes into which Semi Final and which half of their allocated semi final they will appear in . After a tense draw, the results are as follows :
SEMI FINAL 1 ( First half to the left, Second half to the right )

SEMI FINAL 2( First half to the left ,Second half to the right )

Semi Final 1 takes place on 9th May , Semi Final 2 on 11th May , with the Grand Final being on 13th May.
