With the premiere of the 2022 American Song Contest only an hour or so away, how will qualification and voting work in the Heats?
During each Heat, where 11 or 12 Acts will perform, four songs will qualify for the Semi Final stage. The Jury will decide one Act to go through and this will be announced at the end of the show. The public will then have until the Wednesday morning of that week to vote for a further three to progress, from the following 10 or 11 Acts. During the Semi Final stage, voting will conclude on the Tuesday morning. During the Final, voting will only take place during the show.
Following the five Heats, the Jury will be allowed to select two non-qualifiers to progress to the Semi Final stage. In total, 22 Acts should feature in the Semi Final stage. The public will be able to vote through the NBC App and through the NBC website – registering their Zip Code will be required to ensure their votes are registered to their state/territory. Voting can also be done via TikTok.
