#TOKYO20: Eurovision Country Of The Day – Austria

During the duration of the Olympic Games, which are been held in Tokyo, we will be taking a different Eurovision country each day. Today we are looking at Austria’s best Eurovision entry, after they took Gold in the Women’s Road Race Cycling competition.

Hungary have made the Final of the Eurovision Song Contest a total of 47 times. In 1966, when the Contest took place in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, Austria achieved their best position to date with a 1st place. Udo Jürgens performed “Merci, Chérie” and achieved a total of 31 points.

In 2014, when the Contest took place in Copenhagen, Denmark, Austria achieved another 1st place. Conchita Wurst performed “Rise Like a Phoenix” and achieved a total of 290 points.
