Over the course of April and May, on the lead up to the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest, we celebrated the countries that participated in this year’s Contest, in Rotterdam. We are now remembering the countries that had previously participated in the Contest – today we remember Turkey.
Turkey debuted at the Contest in 1975, in Stockholm, Sweden. Semiha Yankı finished in nineteenth and last place, with her entry “Seninle Bir Dakika”, scoring 3 points.
The most successful entry from Turkey was in 2003, when the Contest took place in Riga, Latvia, Sertab Erener finished in first place, with her entry “Everyway That I Can”, scoring 167 points.
The most recent Turkish entry was in 2012, when the Contest took place in Baku, Azerbaijan. Can Bonomo finished in seventh place, with his entry “Love Me Back”, scoring 112 points.
