Over the course of April and May, on the lead up to the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest, we will be celebrating the countries that are participating this year in Rotterdam. Today, we celebrate Albania.
Albania debuted at the Contest in 2004, in Istanbul, Turkey. Anjeza Shahini finished in seventh place in, with their entry “The Image of You”, scoring 106 points. This also included one set of twelve points from North Macedonia.
The most successful entry from Albania was in 2012, when the Contest took place in Baku, Azerbaijan. Rona Nishliu finished in fifth place with her entry “Suus”, scoring 146 points. This included four sets of twelve points from Italy, North Macedonia, San Marino and Switzerland.
The most recent Albanian entry was due to be in 2020, when the cancelled Contest was due to take place in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Arilena Ara was due to represent Albania with her entry “Fall From the Sky”.
This year, Albania will be represented by Anxhela Peristeri with her song “Karma”. Will Anxhela Peristeri take Albania to their first victory?
