#OBITUARY: Patrick Juvet has passed away aged 70

Eurovision Ireland has found out that Swiss singer Patrick Juvet has died in Barcelona. He was 70.

he was best known in Eurovision circles for his appearance at the 1973 contest in Luxembourg with the song Je vais me marier, Marie. Written by Patrick and Pierre Delanoë, it finished 12th with 79 points.

He hit the big time in the 1970s with a string of singles and albums. He embraced the glam rock and disco genres. During this time, one of his biggest hits was I love America.

In more recent times he’d moved back to the French language music scene, and worked with such luminaries as Françoise Hardy (MC63)

In 2005, he released his autobiography Les bleus au cœur: Souvenirs. It was a candid account of his life and struggles.

Eurovision Ireland’s thoughts are with Patrick’s family and friends at this time.
