Best of Eurovision

#POLL – Best of Eurovision – IRELAND’s Odd Years

Building on the success of our Best of the Big 5 series, Eurovision Ireland is now broadening its search for your favourite entries from countries across the continent, spanning the contest’s entire back catalogue – that’s well over 1500 songs!

But before we Open Up to our readers and let them decide what group of countries we vote for next, we’ve decided that as we are Eurovision Ireland, it’s high time we look at our namesake and find your all-time favourite entry from the Emerald Isle!

The Spiritual Home of the Eurovision Song Contest, Ireland holds the record for the most wins at the contest with 7 Eurovision trophies to its name (8 if your believe this!!). As if that wasn’t enough, Ireland also holds the unique distinction of being the home of the only singer to win Eurovision twice, Mr Johnny Logan. Indeed, if you count the fact he penned Linda Martin’s ‘Why Me?’ then he becomes a 3 time winner!

Since Ireland have sent 53 songs to Eurovision down the decades, we’ve split them down the middle by odd and even numbers, depending on what year they entered the contest. So here are your Irish Odd Year Entries – songs that entered in years ending in 1,3,5,7 or 9.

Worried you can’t find your favourite? Don’t be upset! Even Year Entries will come next week! The Top 10 entries from both semi finals will then go on to the grand final, where you will vote for your winner. But who will join Pastora Soler, Mahmood, Texas Lightning, Patricia Kaas and Gina G in the Eurovision Ireland Hall of Fame as your all time favourite for Ireland? Oíche mhaith na hEorpa! Seo Baile Átha Cliath ag glaoch! Start voting now!

REMEMBER! AS ALWAYS, YOU CAN VOTE FOR YOUR TOP 10!
