
Over the course of November and on the lead up to the 2020 Junior Eurovision Song Contest, we will be celebrating the countries that have participated at the Contest. Today, we celebrate Portugal.
Portugal debuted at the Contest in 2006, in Bucharest, Romania – with one of their most successful entries. Pedro Madeira finished in fourteenth place with his entry “Deixa-me sentir”, scoring 22 points. This included one set of twelve points from the EBU.
Their other most successful entry from Portugal was in 2017, when the Contest took place in Tbilisi, Georgia. Mariana Venancio finished in fourteenth place with her entry “YouTuber”, scoring 54 points.
The most recent Portuguese entry was in 2019, when the Contest took place in Gliwice, Poland. Joana Almeida finished in sixteenth place with her entry “Vem comigo (Come with Me)”, scoring 43 points.
