Although the Moldovan broadcaster TRM seem a little disappointed at the number of submissions they’ve had for potential Eurovision songs this year – a record low of only 39 songs – we’re still excited! Why? Because Moldovan Eurovision legends SunStroke Project are back!!
Yes, the group that brought us the Epic Sax Guy in Oslo has submitted a song for O Melodie Pentru Europa 2017. The group is a regular competitor in the Moldovan selection process, having tried out in 2009, 2012 and 2015. This year’s offering is called “Hey Mamma” – check it out below! We think you’ll agree, it’s got a great beat!
Out of the 39 songs submitted, a jury will whittle it down to just 14 for the televised semifinal on February 24th. Then, just 8 songs will be chosen, 4 by jury and 4 by a public vote to advance to the final O Melodie Pentru Europa 2017 on February 25th. The final winner will by chosen by a mix of jury and public vote, and will represent Moldova in Kyiv this May.
Are you excited to see SunStroke Project back in the selection for Moldova? Do you think they can win O Melodie Pentru Europa and bring Moldova back to the final?
Let us know what you think!
