#ICYMI: The Eurovision Week That Was


We have only been home from Stockholm for one week and yet the news keeps on coming from both this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, as well as next year’s. It’s time for a brief recap of this week’s news.

Cast your mind back a week and back to the rollercoaster that was the new voting procedure. Australia won the Jury Votes and Russia won the Tele Votes, leading to Ukraine winning the overall Contest and therefore the right to host next year’s Contest. Jamala took victory with her song “1944”. Catch up HERE.


Yes, it had to happen didn’t it. Claims were made very shortly after Jamala took victory, that “1944” had been performed in public before 1st September 2015. Garrett has looked at the rule that determines whether a song should be disqualified or not and has gone on to make some suggestions to improve this very rule.

Destination 2017

Eurovision 2017 Host Cities- (2)

We know that we are all off to Ukraine next year, but what is currently unknown is who the Host City will be – even though Kyiv is the most likely candidate at this stage. Here at Eurovision Ireland, we will keep you updated with the bids, but for now, HERE are the current ones.
